Job Function

Provides assistance to Events & Facilities Manager and Operations Manager in event planning and implementation, PDC/UC facilities support, and support of UC partners. Responsible for on-site supervision of events and support of specialized audio visual or technical equipment.

Essential Duties Summary

• Assists in planning, coordinating and executing activities involved in all events and classes with emphasis on set up, trouble-shooting and operating technical and audio visual equipment
• Maintains all department equipment and provide proper security for the facility’s equipment including maintenance and repair logs
• Reports issues to maintenance, Service Desk, and Delta Control
• May be required to communicate with other College departments
• Conduct frequent walking tours of the building and report any unusual incidents or problems to the appropriate personnel.
• Meets with clients, staff and students, to coordinate event details
• Provides customer service and technical support to customers
• Assists with event and classroom needs, including setting up rooms, furniture, audio visual equipment, to meet client specifications
• Serves as the on-site facility representative during assigned events
• Oversees activities and people in the facility
• Assists in the day-to-day operations of the facilities and reports any unusual incidents or problems to the appropriate personnel
• Coordinates and supervises event support staff as assigned
• Opens and secures facilities
• Provides recommendations on building and equipment repair, and special projects
• Explains policies and procedures to clients and the public
• Receives and responds to complaints from tenants and the public
• Assists with the training of new hire employees
• Enforces health, safety, fire and departmental regulations
• Performs other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Operations Manager

SUPERVISION GIVEN: May supervise part-time staff as assigned.

Preliminary Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School or GED and some college coursework in business, administration, facility management or a related field.

EXPERIENCE: Some college coursework in business administration, facility management or a related field, and experience in operation of a large convention center, hotel, theater or general public use facility equivalent to 2 years required. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the operation of technical equipment required for events including a/v equipment, microphones, receivers, data projectors, lap top configuration for viewing presentations, and understanding of network connections. Experience necessary with above technical components to accurately resolve problems or troubleshoot systems and equipment preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have a demonstrated ability to manage and work effectively with people as a team member; must have good problem solving and decision making skills; public relations and interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; organizational skills; strong personal computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and event management software. Must be committed to excellent customer service and able to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time; physically able to move chairs, tables, and furniture; lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

Work Hours Must be flexible. To be scheduled by the department as needed, but not to exceed 30 hours per week. Days and hours will vary, but evening and weekend availability is essential. Position may require travel between and off campus.

Salary $12.7382 - $16.4536 (17-18 Salary Range)
